Bust of Antinous
Handcrafted plaster reproduction, one of the masterpieces of art history.
Greco-Roman art. This is one of the representations of Antinous, the handsome lover of Emperor Hadrian, who died in 130 CE in the waters of the Nile at a young age and under mysterious circumstances. Hadrian mourned him so much that he dedicated a city, temples and commissioned portraits of him in every corner of his great empire.
The figure of Antinous appears in many literary and poetic works, including Oscar Wilde and Marguerite Youcenar.
